Send to Kobo
Kobo e-readers read EPUB files as they are, so there's nothing to convert. You just need to get the file onto your Kobo.
With a USB cable
This works on every Kobo e-reader.
- Download the book on your computer.
- Turn on your Kobo and connect it to your computer with its USB cable.
- When your Kobo shows “Computer detected”, tap Connect.
- On your computer, open the drive called KOBOeReader. On a Mac it's in the Finder sidebar; on Windows, in File Explorer.
- Drag the EPUB file onto the KOBOeReader drive.
- Eject the drive (on a Mac, click the eject button next to it in Finder; on Windows, right-click it and choose Eject), then unplug the cable.
Your Kobo will show “Importing content” for a moment, then the book appears in My Books.
Without a cable: Dropbox or Google Drive
Many Kobo models can download books from Dropbox or Google Drive. You link your account once, then add books from your phone or computer.
- On your Kobo, tap More, then Dropbox or Google Drive, and follow the steps to link your account. Your Kobo shows a short code to enter on your phone or computer.
- Linking creates a Rakuten Kobo folder in your Dropbox or Google Drive. Put the EPUB file in that folder.
- On your Kobo, open Dropbox or Google Drive again and download the book.
If you don't see Dropbox or Google Drive under More, your Kobo doesn't support it. Use the USB cable instead.
Good to know
- It stays on that Kobo: books you add yourself only appear on the device you added them to, not in the Kobo app or on your other Kobos.
Reading somewhere else?
There are guides for Kindle and Apple Books. Most other reading apps, like Google Play Books, open EPUB files too: open the file on your device and pick the app. Still stuck? Email info@yasminevanhove.com and I'll help.
